Windows 8.1 is here and it is great, especially for people who are aware of the new technologies. The great thing here is it unified, meaning that laptops, desktops and tablets will only be benefitting thanks to the innovative features and settings that the new OS offers. Of course, like every new thing, there are some well-known features that might be considered as “hidden” for new users – for example – changing your password.
Actually, this used to be really easy – just go to the Control Panel -> users and update your password and information of your account. However, this process is a bit different when it comes to Windows 8.1.
First you need to navigate to the Start Screen. To do so, you have to press the Windows Key if you want to bring the Charms bar just place the cursor in the top right corner of the display.
Then follow this path: Settings ->
Change PC Settings ->
Sign In Options.
A pop-up window will occur – enter your old password and press Next.
Once Windows has verified your password you will have to type it one more time – after that you will be prompted to type the new password and repeat it. After you are done – press Next.
After you have gone through the process that we have just described above – you are ready! You can now use your new password. However, it is important to remember that by changing the password of your Windows you are also changing the password of your SkyDrive, Xbox Live account and Outlook as well as any Microsoft software or service.
This does not state for users who do not use their Windows with Microsoft Account. If your account is local, then changing the password will affect only the Windows login of your laptop (internal), tablet or desktop.
