When the iPhone 5 came out, I heard from several sources that it will be delayed, so I decided to contact Apple and Verizon stores and find out more information about the delay. My friend told me that Apple update the feature at approximately 10p.m, so I logged in my account and added the phone to my cart, so everything was prepared and I just had to wait for Apple to update the stock numbers. The “In-store pickup” feature wasn’t available yet and the waiting started. I kept checking the website the entire day and I found out that Apple update their stock numbers several times a day. Later that day, the in-store pickup became available and I had the chance to input my ZIP cone. However, the phone wasn’t available in the nearby stores, so I had to wait again.

I opened the website at 9:55p.m and started refreshing. Just two minutes later, the stock numbers updated and i was informed that the phone is available in a local San Francisco store. I quickly entered my credit card information, but I wasn’t quick enough and when I got to check out, the phone was unavailable. I decided to try again and chose a store which is several miles away, but the phone wasn’t available. I refreshed again and I saw that there are still some phones available at the Palo Alto store in California which is 35 miles away from here. I used the credit card information which I had inputted earlier and voila, I received an e-mail that my order is being processed.

At exactly 6:30a.m. I received an e-mail saying that my phone is available in the store and I can go and pick it up. I grabbed my keys, got in my car and quickly drove to the store, but there I was unpleasantly surprised. The 27th of October was the grand opening of the new Palo Alto store and there was a big line of over a thousand people waiting to check out the store and maybe a gram a free shirt (the store was giving them away to the first 1,000 visitors). I didn’t want to wait in line, so I spent some time around the shops, drank a coffee and when I came back several hours later, the line was gone. I entered the shop and went out with my new phone in just 15 minutes.

There are many impatient costumers out there and I won’t lie to you, I’m one of them. So if you are like me, then the above method can help you grab your iPhone 5 before anyone else. Don’t despair if you fail from the first try, because sooner or later your order will be accepted.
