How to Attract Followers or Fans to Your Social Media Business Page

If you own a business, social media is a fantastic way in which to gain awareness for your products or services. It can allow you to directly interact with your customers, gain feedback, and discover exactly what your customers want. It is no wonder that social media and business have stuck up a good partnership over the past few years.

When you initially set up your page, getting people to find your business page and follow or like you can take time to develop. Initially you will more than likely recruit friends and family, and hopefully a few of their friends. This will of course begin to spread. There are steps you can take to make your business page more attractive to potential followers/fans.

Make your business page interesting…

Boring waffle will not make people want to interact with you or support you. After you have added your business branding, really consider your updates. Encourage people to comment and give them something interesting to see. Interesting photos can be great, such as behind the scenes images showing what you do, videos of you working on something, interesting facts, or inspiring pictures etc can be a good way to attract more comments and likes from others.

Be careful not to become too boastful also. While it’s great to see someone succeed, reading posts every few hours about every achievement under the sun can be tedious. Think about what you like to see from pages you have followed or liked, and what you haven’t, and follow suit with your own business page.

Join relevant groups…

Interact with fellow professionals, or join groups which relate to your industry can allow you to drum up interest for what you have to offer. You can share images, and link to your page to attract more likes. You can comment on posts and images left by other users under you business name also, which helps get your presence out there. You know you will be reaching people who will be interested in what you have to offer as you will share the same interest.

Name you business page appropriately…

Make sure you name your business page with a hint of what you do. If you are a plumber for example, place this in the title so people can immediately understand what you do. People won’t take time to work out who you are and what you do, you have to make it clear immediately. You will also appear in the social media searches if you place your profession in the title.

Buy Likes/Follows…

This can actually be done, however it is really worth thinking if it is worth the cost. You want genuine people to like your page, and people who genuinely will like what you do. Buying likes can therefore be counterproductive, and just end up costing you money. What is the point of updating your page only for people who don’t genuinely support you to see?

Advertise…

You can pay to advertise your business page. The charges depend on your preferences, for example: How long you want to advertise for? Who do you want to reach? How do you want to reach them?

Advertising can be a great way to target potential new customers. Be careful of the mounting costs, and make sure you keep an eye on whether it is actually having any impact.

Competitions…

This is probably the most rapid way to gain likes. You can ask current fans/followers to share you page or tag themselves in one of your images for the chance to win one of your products. This will then be seen by their friends who will also be attracted and want to win your product also. They will then like your page and share the image or tag themselves, and then their friends will see it. This link continues and you should begin to attract a lot of new fans through friends of friends of friends etc.

Make your competitions interesting, and note that many companies do it, so if you are going to give something away trial this approach before giving away expensive stock, only to gain a few extra likes or follows!
