Nokia Asha 311 – Review
Nokia is known for its user friendly user interface. Nokia produces handsets for all kind of users, high end users are happy with the Nokia devices and common person also have handsets for everyday use. Nokia has come up with Android handsets, which are available in relatively low price. However, here we are discussing a non Android smart phone, which is cheap but yet can compete with many others.
Asha range of Nokia uses Nokia series 40 operating system, so the Nokia Asha 311 runs on the same. The interface of Nokia Asha 311 phone is touch screen. Many people have this question in mind that can a series 40 powered phone can compete with an android phone, which is on budget.
The touch screen of Asha 311 is 3 inch, which is a bit smaller if we compare it with other android phones, but it looks quite similar to them. You will find two buttons, which are used for calling purpose and you can navigate the menus with them. Red button is used to end the call and the same button is used to go back in main menu. You will see the volume control switch on the right edge and lock button is also located on the same side. There are no more physical buttons. Rest of the operations is controlled by the touch screen.

Nokia Asha 302 was having the 1GHz Arm 11 chip, Nokia Asha 311 also have the same processor. The RAM of this gadget is 128MB, while ROM is 256MB. 120 MB is free for the users. Many users find this space insufficient but microSD card slot is there to enhance the storage capacity. You can use the 32 GB card. The location of card is under the battery, so you have to remove the battery to change card. Nokia gives 2GB card in the package. This space is enough for the storage of photos, video clips and other things. In terms of connectivity, Nokia Asha 311 is supported by the 3G and Wi-Fi as well. You will have the Bluetooth connectivity as well but GPS is not available in this smartphone.
Nokia Asha 311 Screen
As Nokia Asha 311 is a touch screen phone and most of the functions will be performed by touching the screen, which is 3 inch in size. The resolution of screen is 240 x 400 pixels. Size of display is small, so the images will appear quite sharp. Display is really bright with wide viewing angles. The vibrant colors of the phone make it a perfect smartphone. Lower resolution is not favourable for some application. You will find it really difficult to use facebook and web browser. This is because; screen cannot show the enough part of page in one shot. So, for the internet users, it may not be able to serve the purpose.
Nokia Asha 311 Operating system
We can call Nokia Asha 311 the first phone of the company that uses full touch version of OS. A lot of designs are similar to the android version. If you swap the screen down, you will see a drop down menu, which will allow you to turn off or on the mobile data. You can access the Wi-Fi, blue tooth settings, music player and profile form the same menu.
You will not find any typical home screen. All the apps are listed in a launcher. You can swipe to the right to access the dialing pad. If you swipe to the left, eight shortcuts will be there including Nokia Maps, web browsers and many others.
Final Words for Nokia Asha 311
All the other Asha handsets are medium range phones and our expectation from Nokia Asha 311 are not high. It lacks some features like GPS and web browser but the features of the phone are really strong. The speed of the phone is good as compared to other phones. The interface of the phone is quite user friendly and battery life is pretty good. Its single SIM phone, if you like to have more than one SIM card, it’s not for you. However, if you are looking for a smartphone with good phonic features and longer battery life, it’s the right choice. 2GB microSD card is another plus, which Nokia Asha 311 offers for its users.
